Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting

At a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting the mediator provides information as to the mediation process and any other processes that maybe suitable and the client provides information as to the issues the client would wish to discuss at any joint session. All information given at a MIAM is confidential. The mediator assesses whether the case is suitable for mediation and assesses the cost of a joint session or whether a client maybe eligible for legal aid for mediation. A joint session cannot proceed unless both parties have attended a MIAM.

Mediation is a voluntary process and accordingly, it is your choice as to whether you wish to attend a MIAM .  However, anyone wishing to make an application to Court relating to children and financial matters must, unless they are exempt, attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting known as a MIAM.
