Complaints Procedure

A complaint must be made in writing (either by letter or email) to:

Time Scales:

  1. Any complaint should be made within 3 months following the date of the last mediation session.
  2. FMC will acknowledge the complaint within 10 days of receipt.
  3. A response to the complaint will be forwarded to you within 28 days of receipt.

When you’ve made your complaint, FMC will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of your letter/email.
  • Pass your letter to the Complaints Officer to investigate your complaint.
  • The Complaints Officer will look into the matter and speak with the Mediator regarding your complaint
  • The Complaints Officer will provide you with a written response.

The Mediator may involve his or her PPC (Professional Practising Consultant) in resolving the complaint.

Following this procedure, if you are not satisfied by our response then you can ask the Family Mediation Standards Board to consider the complaint https://www.familymediationcouncil.org.uk/family-mediation-standards-board-fmsb/

Should you proceed with such a referral we confirm that this does not prejudice your right to seek a civil remedy.

 

File Storage.

Private files are now stored for 2 years and not as previously advised of 6 years.
